Friend Board of Education Meeting: May 21, 2019

 

 

AGENDA FOR THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF DEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 37,

GRADY COUNTY, OKLAHOMA (FRIEND B/E) 

 

As required by Section 311, Title 25, of the Oklahoma Statutes, notice is given that the Friend Dependent School District No. 37, Grady County, will hold the Regular Board of Education Meeting on May 21, 2019 at 6:30 p.m.  The place and street address of the meeting is given as the Friend Board of Education, Library, 1307 County Road 1350, Chickasha, Oklahoma.

4.     Public Comments

         Members of the public wishing to speak must sign in with the Clerk of the Board prior to the convening of the Board meeting. The Board reserves the right to limit repetitive comments, comments unrelated to the business of the Board or the total amount of time dedicated to public comment in a single evening. Board members will not respond to questions or comments during public communications. 

 

5.          Consent Agenda

All of the following items, which concern items of a routine nature normally approved at board meetings, will be approved by one vote unless any board member desires to have a separate vote on any or all of these items.  The consent agenda consists of the discussion, consideration, and approval of the following items:

(a)  Minutes of the April 23, 2019 Special Board Meeting;

                (b) Renew the Lifetouch Yearbook Sales Agreement;

                             (c) Renew OSSBA Membership Dues;

           (d) Renew contract for physical therapy with Carla Gill-Garling 

                R.P.T. for the 2019-2020 school year.

 

6.  Presentation, discussion and possible vote to renew Workmen’s 

     Compensation Insurance, OSIG Property, and Liability Insurance.  

 

7.  Presentation, discussion and possible vote on purchasing a new fire and 

     security alarm system.

 

8.  Presentation, discussion and possible vote on a proposal for transitioning the 

     softball field with upgrades to accommodate both baseball and softball.

 

9.  Discussion and possible vote to purchase equipment and uniforms for the 

     addition of baseball.

 

          10. Financial Report, update on carryover and end of the year spending.

      

11. Discussion and vote to approve encumbrances and payments.

 

12. Discussion and vote to approve the purchase of new Math textbooks for the 

      upper grade levels.

 

13. Discussion and vote to approve the purchase of Elmo Document Cameras.

 

14. Discussion and vote to approve the purchase of new basketball jerseys for 

      5th and 6th Grade Basketball.

 

15. Discussion and possible vote to approve the purchase of a district vehicle to 

                 transport smaller groups of students to activities not to exceed $35.000.00.

 

16. Discussion and possible vote to approve the purchase of a vehicle for staff for 

                 business related travel not to exceed $25,000.  

 

17. Update on Bond and tour of the lower building at lower building for bond 

      update and to tour and to discuss plans for the old cafeteria, kitchen area and 

      classrooms. 
 

18.  Discussion and possible vote to adopt the 2019-2020 school calendar.

 

           19.  Discussion and possible motion to approve open transfer requests. 

 

20.  Discussion and possible vote to approve office staff working 10 hour days 

      Monday - Thursday, and having Fridays off with office closed for the month of 

      June through July 12th.  

 

21.  Board to consider and take action on going into Executive Session to 

       discuss employment of certified and non-certified personnel for the 

       2019-2020 school year.  25 OS 307 (B) (1) ( See attached exhibit A), and the 

       discussion of candidates for summer maintenance work. 

 

22.  Executive Session Minutes Compliance Statement.

 

23.  Board to consider and take action on the employment of certified and 

       non-certified personnel listed in Exhibit A for the 2019-2020 school year.  

 

 24.  Board to consider and take action on the employment of summer 

                  maintenance workers.

 

25.  New Business - This item is limited to any matter not known about or 

       which could not have been reasonably foreseen prior to the time of 

       posting this agenda. [Okla. Stat. Title 25 Section 311 (A)(9)].

The Friend Board of Education may discuss, make motions and vote upon any matter appearing on this agenda.  Such motions and votes may be to adopt, reject, reaffirm or take no action. This agenda was posted at 1:00 pm on May 20, 2019.
