Launch the media gallery 1 playerThank you, Thank you, Thank you! Our bond proposal to build a new playground and to replace a few older HVAC units passed overwhelmingly! The total count for the election was 93 “Yes” votes and 15 “No” votes for a passing percentage of 86%. Thank you to each of you who took the time to go and vote.
Now that the bond has passed, we have to go through some tedious governmental actions to receive the funds to complete the work. Over the next couple of months, the FPS School Board will approve various resolutions and meet various state and federal guidelines. We do not anticipate that we will have access to the funds until at least March. With that being the case, it does not look like we will be able to install the playground equipment until the first part of the summer. We are sorry for this as we were hoping we could get it in before school was out but we just are not going to be able to make that happen. However, we do plan on having a special “Playdate” of some sort once the equipment is installed so students will have a chance to play on it before school starts.
As far as HVAC units are concerned we should be in pretty good shape as we will be getting the funding just as the spring/warmer temperatures start to increase. We will have to get the units ordered and installed but we should get them before school is out. The only issues that might arise are some delays in the ordering process. The learning environment is important. Students learn better and teachers teach better when they are in comfortable climates, have proper lighting, etc. Again, we are thankful that you supported our need to help improve the learning environment for our students.
We will continue to keep you updated on the progress of the playground project as we make our way through. It is hard to believe that the holidays are already upon us. We have had a great first semester. Thanks to the hard work of our staff and thanks to your support of our teachers, lots of great things going on at FPS every day! We hope you have the best holiday season. We will see you next year!
